Strategies

Abraham + Associates is committed to the goal of sustainability which was first defined in 1987 by the World Commission on Environment and Development as that “which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” We therefore predicate all our work on explicit design principals, we call the cornerstones sustainability. Human Health, Ecological Health and Economic Health. We recognize that any strategy that threatens business survival, however well intended it may be, is not sustainable. The key design parameters arising out of these cornerstones are Environmental Quality, Energy Efficiency and Resource Efficiency. Individual strategies such as daylighting and good indoor air quality practices are not merely applied but optimized and integrated creating a synergistic “whole building” approach to design that honors both people their environment.

As one of the few leading architectural firms with an integrated research program we are able to incorporate careful material performance and selection criteria, develop and analyze advanced engineering and design solutions, provide estimates of operational life cycle cost savings and productivity improvements and assess impacts on community and regional environmental quality.
