| River of Life Church This project completed in 2005, includes an addition to and extensive remodeling of the historic First Baptist Church of Hastings built in 1924 and vacated in 2001. The building sat vacant for 2 years prior to commencing design. The restoration and conversion was considered somewhat of a miracle with a final cost of only $85/sf in 2005. The program incorporates a fully functional nursery, daycare and expanded classroom and administration offices as well as a new multifunctional worship space enjoying abundant daylight and with direct access to a fully equipped kitchen. What was originally the upper sanctuary in the 1924 structure was fitted with a new 2nd floor and converted into a creatively configured space for the youth of the church. AWARDS: 2005 Heritage Preservation Award by the Hastings Heritage Preservation Commission.
